We started with Four girls. Almost ten years. Impacted 7000 plus of young women. And we're only getting started.
As Ms Independent Careers approaches its 10th anniversary, we thought there was no better time for a proper introduction or reintroduction for those who have been with us for a while.
So, who exactly are we?
Who is Ms Independent Careers?
Ms Independent Careers (MIC) is a career development and confidence platform for young women.
Our mission is simple:
Empowering the next generation of independent career women.
We want young women to leave education with more than qualifications. We want them to have the confidence, skills, connections and real-world experiences they need to pursue the careers they want.
MIC began almost ten years ago with just four girls.
Today, we have supported thousands of young women through our programmes, experiences and growing network.
What do we actually do?
Our work starts in education.
We partner with schools, colleges and universities, predominantly across London, delivering career programmes designed to prepare young women for what comes next.
Our two core education pathways focus on employment and enterprise, combining practical career skills with the confidence to actually use them.
But graduating from an MIC programme isn't where the relationship ends.
It's where our network begins.
Beyond the classroom
Young women can continue their MIC journey through our programmes outside education.
Our Career Experience Programme partners with employers to give girls access to workplaces, professionals and industries through immersive insight days.
Our Career & Confidence Programme provides practical support through Career Clinics, covering areas such as CVs, job applications, LinkedIn, personal branding and interview preparation, alongside events including our annual Careers Fair.
And we're currently building the next part of that journey — helping even more young women move from career-ready to career-started.

Who have we worked with?
Over the years, we've been fortunate to work with and receive support from some incredible organisations.
Our partners and supporters have included Metro Bank, Domestic & General, Bebeto, NG Bailey and the Wimbledon Foundation, alongside many others who have helped us give young women access to new industries, workplaces and opportunities.
Our work has also received more than £200,000 in funding, with support over the years from organisations including The National Lottery Community Fund, The Fore, London Community Foundation and the Stephen Lloyd Awards.
And we're nowhere near finished.
Why now?
Over the past year, MIC has been much quieter on social media.
Not because the work stopped - quite the opposite.
We took the opportunity to look closely at our organisation: what was working, what needed to change and what we needed to build to reach and support more girls.
We've been strengthening our infrastructure, developing our programmes, growing our team and putting better systems in place for the future.
Because as we approach 10 years of Ms Independent, we're not only celebrating how far we've come.
We're building for where we're going next.
You'll be hearing much more from us - the programmes, partnerships, experiences and, most importantly, the stories and successes of the young women at the heart of MIC.
